Gunnar is a Central Arkansas native who has had a passion for the Arts for as long as he can remember. Gunnar received a full scholarship to be a member of Dr. Blake Tyson’s percussion studio at UCA, where he has performed with the UCA Percussion Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and the Bear Marching Band.

Gunnar joined the Conway Symphony Orchestra in November of 2012, taking over as Principal Timpanist in November of 2013. His most notable performance was that of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 in D Minor. Gunnar has also served as the CSO Coordinator with the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity for the orchestra’s usher and setup service.

Under the direction of Maestro Israel Getzov and Geoffrey Robson, Gunnar has performed with several guest artists, including the Arkansas Festival Ballet, the 14th Van Cliburn Champion Vadym Kholodenko, Canadian cellist Roman Borys, violin virtuoso Alexander Markov, and singer/songwriter Randy Newman.

Gunnar is completing his coursework and internship to receive his Bachelor’s of Music Education upon graduation in the Fall of 2016. His plans after UCA are to keep performing, but more so to pursue a future in Law.
