Class: Enjoying the Seasons with Local Food

It’s time to rethink your meal planning! Join us to learn how to create meals using the freshest local ingredients. We will discuss the benefits of buying local food, where you can get it and the larger impact it has on your community. Participants will learn about the different kinds of produce that are in season throughout the year in Arkansas and how they can incorporate them into meals. Each person will get to sample 3 dishes prepared using all local ingredients and go home with sample meal plans, recipes and guides on how to source more local food.

Presenter: Kim Doughty

Kim Doughty is the Arkansas GardenCorps supervisor for the Faulkner County Urban Farm Project, which is an educational community garden located behind the public library in Conway. She is passionate about promoting the use of local food because she sees the positive impact it has on the community. Kim and her farming partner are currently starting their own urban farm in Conway and have dreams to one day open a local food restaurant that also serves as a community center and education space.
